The story

Half a million dots. That's what Seurat used to build this painting. Dots. Lots of dots. Nobody has actually counted. But that's the rough estimate. He spent two years placing them one by one. Every person, every shadow, every blade of grass. All dots. Yet when you step back, you see a Sunday afternoon. Paris in the 1880s. Your brain is doing all the work. Seurat just gave it the right information.
