Abbott Fuller Graves painted a real pond. Observatory Pasture Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine. People would take boats out, pick flowers, exist for an afternoon. He lived a few minutes away. He designed his house in 1905, one of only two Prairie style homes ever built in Maine. He walked to this pond. It is still there. Kennebunkport is still there. You can still get on the water. You would probably choose a paddle or a kayak.
