The story

Common swifts spend almost their entire lives in the air. They eat, sleep, and mate on the wing. A young swift can fly for two or three years straight before it ever touches the ground. Liljefors knew this. He was a hunter before he was a painter and watched these birds for years. That's why the meadow behind them is a blur. You're not seeing flowers. You're seeing what a swift sees at full speed.
