Abstract

The story

Paul Klee went to Tunisia in 1914. He came back a different painter. Before that trip he was mostly drawing, mostly unsure of himself with color. Then North Africa hit him like a wall. He wrote in his diary "Color and I are one. I am a painter." Just like that. This is what a place looks like when it rewires someone's brain. Three panels because one wasn't enough.
