Pontoise. About 20 miles north of Paris, not the richest suburb, barely 6500 people living there. Plus Pissarro, his wife, his kids, and a pack of fellow painters he invited to come paint and talk. Cézanne showed up first, in 1872, and stayed for years, learning everything he could. Gauguin followed a few years later. Berthe Morisot passed through too. Armand Guillaumin spent some time...
