A Turn in the Road

Impressionism

The story

Three years before this, Sisley was a rich guy who painted because he liked it. His family ran a silk business, and money was never really the point. Then the Franco Prussian war hit. The silk trade collapsed, the family fortune went with it, and Sisley found himself living modestly nearby, painting this road hoping it would actually earn him some cash.
