Impressionism

The story

This is not Mount Fuji and you're not in Japan. It's Mount Shasta, a volcano in California.

Childe Hassam, like Monet and the rest of the Impressionists, was obsessed with Japanese art. So he went looking for a view that could match it. He found the mountain, the lake, and the exact angle to echo the woodblock prints he loved.
