Sunset over a Danish Fiord

Realism

The story

Sunset over a Danish Fjord (1901) by Peder Mønsted. This man had an almost absurd ability to see. Every reed, every lily pad, every shift in the water where light hits different. While the rest of Europe was rushing toward abstraction, Mønsted kept looking closer. He traveled everywhere but always came back to Denmark. To this kind of light. The kind that lasts maybe ten minutes and you either catch it or you don't. He caught it.
