There's something off about these stairs. They go up but they don't really invite you. The steps feel steep, and the whole thing looks like it's leaning into you.

Van Gogh was in Auvers for his last 70 days. He was painting everything around him like he was running out of time. This stairway feels like that. Rushed. Tight. A little suffocating. You look at it long enough and you start feeling your foot catching on an uneven step.
