View of Paris from Montmartre

Have you ever moved somewhere new and just stood at the window, looking out at the city?

That's what Van Gogh was doing. He had just arrived in Paris and looked out at this massive sea of chimneys and heavy clouds. Just a guy trying to figure out his life in a giant city.

He painted this same view twice. The first one is grey and unsigned. This one has color in it. And his name on it. Like he had finally figured the city out enough to say: Vincent was here.
