Abstract

The story

1916. Kandinsky had been kicked out of Germany. World War I cut him off from every friend, gallery or conversation that built his abstract language. Back in Moscow, alone, he picked up watercolor and let it bleed. Two red spots. Arcs that sweep like a conductor's arm. Mountains hiding inside the chaos if you look long enough. He wasn't painting what he saw anymore. He was painting what he heard inside his head.
