We have no idea who lived in this house. Just a gardener somewhere in Antibes that Monet decided to paint in 1888. Monet was obsessed with gardens. He spent decades designing his own in Giverny, ordered rare seeds from Japan, hired gardeners. He rerouted water to build his lily ponds. So when he saw this house with its bare trees and overgrown yard overlooking the sea, he recognized a kindred spirit. Someone who also spent their days in the dirt making things grow.
