Local high society enjoying the race. That man standing with the Panama hat? Monet's father. Pretending to watch the boats. Actually brewing his anger against his son. He had just forced young Claude to drop Camille and his unborn child. Come back live a "correct" life. Cut his allowance to make sure he did. Monet played the good son. Painted his family into the sunshine. And brought the money to Camille. It lasted months. Ended brutally when they found out. --- Good Son
