Monet did not find this path. He designed it. Planted it. Spent decades building Giverny into what he wanted to paint. The way the flowers close over your head was deliberate. He was controlling light the same way he controlled it on the canvas. He started going blind at the time. The most intense color work of his life came from a man who could barely see. Would you like a ceiling of rose every time you go home?
