The Seine at Vetheuil

Impressionism

The story

Monet loved any river, but he could live around only one: the Seine. 86 years together. It started in Le Havre, where the big river finds its way to the ocean. Then Argenteuil, Vétheuil, Poissy, all on her banks. And of course Giverny, where his friend Caillebotte would come visit by boat. The only time he lived far from her was pure necessity. War. 86 years, one river. Try beating that kind of loyalty.
