Woman with a Parasol

That's Camille. Monet's wife. He painted her on a summer walk in 1875. She was 28. Look how close he is. Looking up at her. You can feel the wind on the fabric. This isn't a painting of a woman with a parasol. This is a man watching his wife from the grass on a good day.

Four years later she was gone. Monet tried to paint this scene again. Twice. Same parasol. Same hill. Same wind. But he never painted the face again. He couldn't.
