Rolling hoops. Climbing. Wrestling. Spinning. Leapfrog. Tug of war. Bruegel catalogued over 80 childhood games in 1560. Games kids are still playing today. But nobody is laughing. Nobody is having fun. They're completely serious. Focused. Almost desperate. That's because Bruegel wasn't painting childhood. This is a painting about adult foolishness. A world that forgot what matters and just keeps playing. Sound familiar?
