Japanese Footbridge Giverny

Impressionism

The story

Monet made about 250 views of the water lily pond. The bridge alone got around 50 canvases. But this one is unique, and not just once. First, it's the very first. The pond and the bridge had been there for years, but Monet waited. He wanted the right bloom, the right light, the precise color. Then he started. Now look at the top right. Among those 250 canvases, this is the only one where the sky is clearly visible. Everywhere else, he locked it out and let the water do all the talking.
