The story

December 1869. Monet visits Pissarro at Louveciennes and stays a few weeks. They paint side by side. They talk about art, about the Salon turning down the Magpie and Fishing Boats at Sea. They share the meals. The house at the right edge of this canvas is Pissarro's. And while Monet and Pissarro did artist things, the women were trying to hold things together. Camille, alone with Jean at Bougival. Julie, with a new mouth to feed at Louveciennes.
