The story

You don't go to Belle Ile in November if you're chasing sun. Off the coast of Brittany, at this time of year, you can bet on storms. The kind where rain goes horizontal, waves hit like walls, and wind becomes your enemy. No canvas would survive two seconds outside in that. Monet probably struggled to even stand straight. We don't need an art historian to tell us he painted this from memory. But that's the thing. He went there on purpose. He wanted this fight.
