The Hotel des Roches Noires at Trouville

Impressionism

The story

June 28, 1870. Monet finally marries Camille after years together. They go to Trouville for the honeymoon. The fancy hotel, the flags, the wind, people strolling with parasols. Perfect day. Perfect summer. Three weeks later France declares war on Prussia. Monet flees to London. People vanish from the Hotel des Roches Noires.

This painting is the last time everything is fine.
