Public The Poet s Garden

Post-Impressionism

The story

Its real name was Jardin de la Cavalerie. Cavalry Garden. Two minutes from the Yellow House. Van Gogh walked past it every day and thought the name was wrong. Too military for what he saw. So he kicked the cavalry out and let the poets in. Renamed it himself. The Poet's Garden. Then he painted it and hung it in the bedroom he was preparing for Gauguin. The man he called a "new poet." The poet came to visit. But did not stay long.
