Garden and Henhouse at Octave Mirbeau s Les Damps

Impressionism

The story

Impressionists needed variety. New landscapes, new gardens to put on canvas. They didn't have Airbnb. Anyway, it wouldn't have been their thing. They were mostly broke. Not much money for travel. And they wanted friendship, not just a bed and a view. So they visited each other. Or their rich fans. Renoir at Monet's. Monet at the Hoschedés. Pissarro showing up at Mirbeau's place. Mirbeau was a writer, a critic, a fan. He just opened his door. The rest was paint.
