Monet painted Camille holding parasols. Renoir painted women at parties. Pissarro painted his wife on her knees in the dirt. That's Julie Vellay, working the vegetable patch. Around her, roses climbing the wall. Sunflowers in the back. Fruit trees perfectly spaced. The house where they raised seven kids. She built all of this. And kept it all going while he painted it. You can't see her face. But you can see her. That's how he chose to paint the woman he loved.
